Today you get 2 kitties. 2 because I’d like to take a day off later in the week, but don’t want to short change the rescues that I’m working with.

It was a working weekend for me, and I’ll admit I’m a little wiped out. But what fun!

Saturday started with an early soccer game, and I enjoyed the crisp air and the dew drenched fields – they turned silvery as the sun rose, and I sat there, sipping my coffee, cheering my son on, while enjoying the atmosphere. Then it was off to Metamora’s Celebration of the Horse, where my daughter and I spent the afternoon prowling about, each with camera in hand, taking pictures, and soaking up all that is equine with great delight. And finally, Saturday evening found my husband and I in fabulous company at Margot’s Gallery, at her group show opening. Sunday was more of the same – an afternoon spent at the gallery, talking art all day – and then an artists’ gathering at Margot’s house, flush with great food and wine and conversation.

So, I’m thinking I’ve earned a day off this week, and it’s just a matter of picking which one and what I’ll with it.

But meanwhile, back to the paintings!!

First is Milo. Here’s a sweet little 4x5 painting of a fluffball buff tabby kitten. He came into the Friends of Michigan Animal Rescue with 4 siblings and his mother. His mother was spayed, and has since found a home. All of the kittens are now awaiting adoption. They have been spayed/neutered, had their first vaccinations, been dewormed, and tested negative for FeLuK/FIV. Inquiries to ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com .

Next in line is Wilton, and his painting is 5x7. Wilton is a very sweet boy found injured on the side of the road – he cannot use one of his front paws. He gets around by scooting and pulling, and has good circulation in the paw, so the vets have decided not to remove his leg. He is shy, but friendly, and loves to be loved (who doesn’t?!). Wilton’s painting can be purchased for $90, and will go to the first interested buyer. Inquiries to ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com .
SOLD.

Both these kitties are available for adoption through the Friends of Michigan Animal Shelter, in northern lower Michigan. They have a number of cats looking for forever homes, and a few wonderful dogs as well. Additional information can be found on their website - http://www.fmar1.com/WhoWeAre.asp .

20% of the sale of these 2 paintings will be returned to the FMAS in support of their continued efforts, so you can feel even better about your purchase!

I was pleasantly surprised today to receive several special envelopes, packed with collars and dog tags. Again, I want to thank those of you who are trusting me with such special mementos of your dogs. I have figured out an inventory method, and will be returning the items at the end of the project (right now, that’s not yet determined). If anyone wishes to contribute old tags, licenses, etc, they may be sent to me at 346 N Anderson, Lake Orion, MI 48362. Please include a means of returning the items (like a prepaid envelope/packaging).

Thanks as always for looking.
And for sharing these paintings with your friends and family!
See you soon,
Kim

Tabby Kit

"Tabby Kit," 5" x 7", acrylics on a museum quality panel, depicting a tiny little orange striped guy from Morgue File . This painting can be yours for $289, which includes s&h inside the US. And in case you didn't see it, a little doodle of him is also available for sale here . Inquires may come directly to me .  Although it certainly doesn't FEEL like spring here (snow and ice and wind chills, brr!), I can tell that spring is coming. The mercury is rising a wee bit each day and the days are getting longer and brighter. Over the weekend we drove with the moonroof open just to feel the sun's meager and oh-so-very-welcome warmth (although the heat in the car was cranked, too, in the interest of full disclosure!). I wanted to work with spring-like colors today, and this little guy was still on my mind , so I grabbed a small panel and got to work. Of course, I also have Poppy to finish and some changes to make to another po
“Rapt (Shadow),” from the Larger than Life series, 16”x22”, acrylic black lab mixed breed pet portrait on gallery wrapped canvas, $699. Inquiries to ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com . SOLD. This is Shadow, who went missing on Sunday night. He belongs to a friend of mine, and has been a fixture in our community for many years. Errant fireworks scared the silly old guy into running off, and his family is busy searching for him. (If you happen to be in the Lake Orion/Oakland County area and have seen Shadow, please call 248-391-0867 or 248-391-6817) I’m confidant that he is safe (somewhere!) and awaiting discovery, but meanwhile, couldn’t help myself from posting his portrait as today’s dog a day painting . He’s constantly on my mind, and probably will remain so, until he finds his way back home. Hug your four legged guys while you can! Thanks, as always, for looking. NEW! Etsy Store

One of my favorite unsold paintings from 2008, "Lashes & Corkscrews," 5" x 8", acrylic on canvasboard, depicting a tobiano buckskin curly horse, $289. Inquiries to ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com (but read further on how you can get a special deal on this painting!). Now it's ridiculously easy to browse my painting archives. All you have to do is visit my Etsy store . Etsy has a Shopping Cart (so you can pile it high with purchases from a variety of artists), is integrated with Paypal (although you may still pay by check if you prefer to), and is terribly simple to navigate. When the week has ended, I will have listed almost 100 of my favorite (UNSOLD!) paintings here, grouped loosely by subject matter. During 2009 I'll update the shop regularly, and add non-Dog-a-Day pieces as a bonus, thus making it easy to search for that perfect gift. Watch my daily postings for announcements, promotions and discount codes. If you do not receive the Dog-a-Day emails (
