Come Out to Play....


The front porch of the Orion Art Center (Lake Orion, Michigan), where I proudly hung the banner for June's exhibition, featuring Painting a Dog a Day pieces accompanied with bits of the "Happily Ever After" exhibit I hung at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary last summer.

Tonite's the nite!

From 7-9pm, I will be demonstrating my painting technique and fielding (hopefully art-related) questions from those in attendance. No reservations necessary. Donations at the door will benefit the Oakland Pet Adoption Center.

This Saturday, I'll lead the fearless deeper into my happy little world of color and expressive brushwork. My workshop "Mixing Color - Not Mud" will introduce exercises and techniques that build confidence and color knowledge. All of this will happen against a backdrop of nearly 50 Dog a Day paintings. A big tail-wagging thanks to the Orion Art Center for hosting my artwork and musings this month!

Bedlam Rules

I know I tend to keep myself occupied, packing as much as possible into every day.

But the last two weeks even I have gone overboard.

Multiple workshops, presentations, client consults, and the de rigor of daily painting, coupled with the entire end-of-the-school-year rush (times three, since my kids are in elementary, middle and high school), have taken the insanity to an entirely new level.

Next week will include some serious down time. I'm talking casual reading in the backyard (NOT art related!!), a couple of naps (the mere thought of them makes my spine tingle), longer walks with the dog (he won't know what hit him!), some quality time with my knitting needles, and whipping up a few killer meals with the kids.

It's summertime!!

This is Shadow, who went missing on Sunday night. He belongs to a friend of mine, and has been a fixture in our community for many years.
