Calla, in process

IN PROCESS, full image above, detail below: "Calla," 24" x 48", acrylics, charcoal and ink on museum quality cradeled panel (painting wraps around the sides, so there is no need to frame), featuring a white horse crowned with a bouquet of flowers. When finished, this painting will be $1499, complete with complimentary shipping inside the US (I also ship worldwide) - inquiries may always come  to me . This one is a self-portrait of sorts. As a horse crazy child, I galloped everywhere, and imagined a silky tail streaming behind. The flowers carry symbolic meaning or have special context to me. Next I'm trotting into the kitchen and get dinner going. Hobbes

"Hobbes," 18" x 24" x 1-1/2", acrylics, charcoal and ink on museum quality cradeled panel (painting wraps around the sides, so there is no need to frame), featuring an enormously tender and orange tabby kitten, crowned with daisies and baby's breath. Hobbes is allergen free, won't scratch your furniture or leave hairballs inside your favorite shoes, and he guaranteed to make you smile - $1499 will get him to your door (inside the US, but yes, I do ship worldwide) - inquiries may always come  to me . The world gets darker by the day. I believe some of my best floral paintings are coming from a desire to create beauty and paint hope. Hobbes is one of these pieces. We can't let the darkness win.  Thanks for following along with my artwork, Kim ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com    WORKSHOPS: "Color-iffic," Montague, Michigan (near Grand Rapids), September 8-9th, 2016. Prairie Frida, Finished

In Process: "Prairie Frida," 12" x 48", acrylics on panel, featuring a prairie dog sporting a floral crown, a la Frida Kahlo  (she's a hero of mine).  Scroll down for more detail. I've been working on her for about a week, getting things all drippy and luscious, then setting her aside to dry while I picked up another piece. I am in love with Frida, both the prairie dog and the painter. She is going to make someone's home pretty crazy fun - although I imagine she's much tamer than the artist Frida ever was!! Camargue Peace

Reproductions Available "Camargue Peace," 24" x 20", acrylics on panel, featuring a wild horse with a crown of blooms. This piece is $699, price includes complimentary shipping inside the US, and it will arrive wrapped in prayer. Inquiries may come  to me . SOLD (thank you so much!) I try to steer clear of politics and world events on my blog, but I can't anymore. It seems like every day our world becomes more divided, and humanity showers itself with additional pain. I had to pour myself into a painting done in response to the horrific tragedy in Nice, and spent 9 hours painting alla prima (wet on wet, none stop) today.  I've broken tradition and made prints available prior to the sale of the original, because I am hoping that adding this piece in whatever form to your personal collection will bring joy and peace to your life. We could all use some more of that, no? The Camargue Horse  is one of the oldest breeds in the world, and it

Sweet Pea

"Sweet Pea," 16" x 20", acrylics on panel, featuring a teeny tiny baby bunny (lionhead? angora?) with the sweetest little white nose, nestled in a mass of sweet peas. We packed so much into our trip around my daughter's performance schedule and made lots of fabulous memories. On top of that, her team danced incredibly well, bringing home national titles, scholarships, special recognitions and numerous awards. And I brought home a mess of ideas for new work. I have never left the studio for 12 whole days before. It was terrifyin
